Cindy has been a Keys to Literacy Consultant/Trainer since 2016. For 30 years before this role, she was an educator for students with disabilities in the public school system. She also worked as an Exceptional Children’s Literacy Consultant for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. In the consultant role, she collaborated with district-level administrators and curriculum directors to develop literacy plans and with Institutions of Higher Education to provide support for pre-service teacher instruction. Over the years, Cindy has presented professional development training across North Carolina and workshops at reading conferences. She has been a pre-service teaching supervisor at East Carolina University. She received a B.S. in Mental Disabilities and a M.Ed. in Learning Disabilities from East Carolina University. Cindy also received National Board certification for Professional Teaching Standards. Cindy is passionate about empowering administrators and teachers to use quality literacy instruction and practical strategies that provide students with valuable tools for learning.
