Why obtain a micro-credential?
As educators participate in professional development to improve skills and knowledge about literacy instruction, micro-credentials provide a formal way to show that that the educator successfully completed a training course. Micro-credentials are an alternative to advanced degrees and provide a way for educators to take professional development of their choice. They can be compiled into stackable blocks of knowledge in a particular topic. Micro-credentials demonstrate continuing professional development, dedication and desire for improving one’s practice and knowledge through personalized learning.

How do you obtain a micro-credential for Keys to Beginning Reading?
You must successfully complete the online course, and save your Certificate of Completion that is accessed at the end of the online course. You apply directly to Credentials Unlimited for the micro-credential and submit your Certificate of Completion to them. They will arrange for you to take an online assessment that will show you have learned the competencies for Foundations of Literacy Acquisition. Click here to register with Credential Unlimited and take the assessment. Follow the directions for payment and taking the assessment.
To pass, you must obtain an 80% or higher on this assessment. You will have three attempts to pass this exam. If you do not pass, your payment is NOT refunded.
