Deb began her 25+ year teaching career as a K-6 special educator in 1993. She then taught outdoor education to K-12 gifted learners with dyslexia. After moving to Martha’s Vineyard she team taught a multiage 3rd/4th grade class. Always passionate about literacy learning, Deb devoted the last 16 years of her teaching career as a reading specialist and literacy coordinator, including developing and delivering literacy professional development and coaching in her district. She is a published writer and loves sharing her joy of writing both with teachers and students. Deb is certified in Orton Gillingham and holds certifications in SEI, writing, and curriculum design. Deb earned a B.A. in International Relations from Clark University, a M.Ed in Elementary Education and Moderate Special Needs from Lesley College, and an Advanced Degree in Reading from MGH Communication Sciences and Disorders program. She is an avid reader, rock climber, hiker, and outdoor enthusiast and loves being with her husband and son on all kinds of life adventures.
