Dolores Smith, M.Ed


Before joining Keys to Literacy, Dolores was an English teacher and reading specialist/coach for 19 years in the Cranston, RI public schools, covering middle and high school grades. As a district literacy consultant, she planned, evaluated and revised literacy curricula, course content and materials, and provided professional development to staff. This included literacy data analysis and instruction for reading and writing in the content areas. Dolores also held the position of adjunct faculty at the Community College of Rhode Island, Warwick where she taught basic college reading courses; Rhode Island College where she taught the graduate course “Reading for Students with Disabilities”, and the University of Rhode Island First Start Summer Academy. She received her B.S. from the University of Rhode Island and her M. Ed in Literacy from Rhode Island College.
