Kanita Sturdivant, M. Ed.


Kanita has worked as an educator for eleven years. She began her career as a secondary English Language Arts teacher in Alabama’s Sumter County School District; she taught students in grades 7-12 with a focus on literacy RTI. She worked with A+ College Ready as a teacher trainer, presenter and instructional coach. As an instructional coach, she provided support to teachers and leaders in under-performing schools across Alabama’s Blackbelt by coaching them in curriculum implementation and high-yield teaching strategies. As a consultant, she has worked as a teacher trainer for the National Math and Science Initiative where she led cohorts of teachers and leaders in Alabama, Michigan, Texas, Ohio and Pennsylvania in professional development sessions that focused on teachers’ pedagogical literacy and content knowledge, instructional planning, assessment practices, and data analysis skills. Kanita received her B.S. and M. Ed. in ELA-Secondary Education from the University of West Alabama in Livingston, Alabama.
