In addition to being a National Literacy Trainer/Consultant, Michelle is also an Assistant Director of Product Development at Keys to Literacy. Michelle began her career in public education in 1989 as a second-grade teacher. After numerous years in the classroom, she moved into the role of reading specialist and eventually literacy coach. Michelle received her B.S. in Elementary Education and M.Ed. in Reading from Salem State University. In addition, she holds her ELA Director Supervisor license and Orton-Gillingham certificate. Michelle also holds the position of adjunct professor at various colleges. During her time as a reading specialist and literacy coach, Michelle created and provided professional development, developed literacy curriculum, was a member of the MTSS team, and was involved in the implementation of best literacy practices and interventions at the school and district level. In addition, Michelle has received grants for connecting literacy with Novel Engineering, Cultural Responsiveness, and Social Emotional Learning. Michelle enjoys spending time with her family and friends in Maine, skiing in the winter, and being on the lake in the summer.
