About Keys to Literacy
With decades of experience and a national reputation for excellence, the KTL team delivers practical, high-quality literacy support grounded in the Science of Reading (SOR) and research-based writing practices. Our approach is strategically designed to align with state literacy standards and support students’ academic success. Since 2007, we have collaborated with thousands of educators and leaders in over 500 school districts in nearly every state in the country. We have provided impactful learning opportunities to more than a thousand preservice teachers and faculty in educator preparation programs, while also leading collaborative partnership projects with state departments of education to drive statewide literacy initiatives.

Professional Development That Makes a Difference!
Our professional development programs are program-neutral, emphasizing a comprehensive understanding of literacy instruction components—phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, writing, and language—rather than aligning with any specific reading or writing program. This approach ensures that our training is adaptable, equipping educators with the foundational knowledge and skills to enhance literacy instruction across various educational contexts.
Keys to Literacy Professional Development
Onsite & Online Learning That Lasts
Our professional development has been recommended in the National Council on Teacher Quality’s Four Pillars to Reading Success Action Guide, and we frequently present at numerous national and state conferences such as The Reading League, Plain Talk, and International Dyslexia Association (IDA). KTL’s Keys to Beginning Reading course is accredited by the International Dyslexia Association, follows IDA’s tenets of Structured Language instruction and meets the IDA Knowledge and Practice Standards for Teachers of Reading.
