Patricia Duty is a Trainer with Keys to Literacy and an educator who is proud to call Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania her home. Her journey in teaching began back in 1996 when she entered the dynamic world of Pittsburgh Public Schools. Throughout her career, she has worn many hats, including that of a Literacy and Curriculum Coach. She has the privilege of guiding her colleagues in understanding the intricacies of English Language Arts and has played a pivotal role in shaping curriculum initiatives. One of her proudest achievements stems from her work with middle schoolers struggling with comprehension issues. By delving deep into data analysis and employing innovative problem-solving techniques, she crafted a comprehensive plan that led to a remarkable 9.2% increase in PSSA scores for 6th to 8th graders. Patricia has certifications in Elementary Education K-6, Wilson Orton Gillingham, LETRS, and Gifted Student Instruction. She was honored with the Distinguished Teacher Award (2013-2014) and nominated for Teacher of the Year in 2019. Currently, she is pursuing a Reading Specialist Certification at the University of Pittsburgh, constantly seeking to expand her knowledge and skills in effective literacy practices. From the University of Pittsburgh, she holds her Elementary Education Certification and B.S. in Political Science, as well as a Pro Year Certification with a Masters Equivalency upon graduation.
