Description
In addition to on-site training that is delivered by our staff, Keys to Literacy offers a Train-The-Facilitator option for state or regional education organizations and large districts.
Our Train-The-Facilitator program enables a Licensed Certified Facilitator to deliver professional development for certain Keys to Literacy programs using a blended online training model that combines face-to-face facilitation with an online course. A Licensed Certified Facilitator can also conduct Administrator Training, follow-up professional development to teachers, and support to individuals who have been trained as building-based coaches for our programs. A Certified Facilitator does not deliver coach training; this is only provided by Keys to Literacy trainers.
Upon completing all stages of our Train-The-Facilitator program, Licensed Certified Facilitators can deliver facilitation for their sponsoring organization – they are not approved to deliver professional development for our programs as a “trainer for hire” or as an independent trainer. Contact us for more information about our Train-The-Facilitator program.
For Keys to Beginning Reading, The Key Comprehension Routine, The Key Vocabulary Routine, Keys to Content Writing, and Keys to Early Writing:
- In-house literacy specialists become Certified Facilitators and are licensed to deliver initial teacher training using a facilitated online course model, administrator training, and implementation coaching.
- Educators learn course content and instructional practices by completing asynchronous online course modules. The modules are completed following a schedule that includes facilitated live sessions (delivered virtually or face-to-face) by Certified Facilitators. The length of time to complete the online course and attend facilitated meetings varies depending on the Keys to Literacy program.
- During the facilitated sessions, Certified Facilitators provide a collaborative opportunity to debrief activities completed during the online course, share ideas for connecting the course to classroom instruction, and to answer questions about course content.
- When a school or district uses this model, there is a per-teacher charge that covers the cost of the training book and online registration fee.
- The Train-the-Facilitator session ranges from two to three days, depending on the program
