About this Training
This practical course provides the background knowledge needed to teach all the components of beginning reading instruction using an explicit instruction approach. The teaching suggestions are practical and designed to easily transfer to classroom lessons and can be integrated with any reading curriculum or published reading program. The course is tightly aligned with state literacy standards. Keys to Beginning Reading is accredited by the International Dyslexia Association (IDA) Center for Effective Reading Instruction.
Facilitated Online Format: This is a facilitated online course that combines the 40-hour online course with 10 hours of virtual-live sessions, facilitated by a Keys to Literacy trainer. Participants complete sections of the asynchronous online course at their own pace, interspersed with five, 2-hour virtual-live sessions. If for some reason you miss a facilitated session, you may request access to view a recorded session within one week after the missed date. You will have access to the entire online course for a year.

Facilitated Online Course Schedule:

- Session One: January 13 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM CT / 5:00 to 7:00 PM ET
- Session Two: February 17 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM CT / 5:00 to 7:00 PM ET
- Session Three: March 10 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM CT / 5:00 to 7:00 PM ET
- Session Four: April 14 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM CT / 5:00 to 7:00 PM ET
- Session Five: May 12 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM CT / 5:00 to 7:00 PM ET
