Advanced training for building or district level individuals to become a peer implementation coach/facilitator for the The Key Comprehension Routine. The training includes a deep review of the routine and coaching skills.
Prior attendance at a Key Comprehension 4-12 initial training is a prerequisite for Peer Coach Training.
Virtual-Live Format: The trainer will use Zoom video conferencing to deliver this training in an interactive format, using features such as breakout rooms and chat. Sessions are not recorded - attendance only in real time.
Training Description
This two-day workshop is for peer coach/facilitators who want to provide support to teachers who have been trained to implement strategies from The Key Comprehension Routine. These strategies include: categorizing and main idea skills, text structure, top-down topic webs, two-column notes, student generated questions, and summaries.
Day 1 (Tuesday, June 11, 2024) The goals for this day are to clarify any questions you have about the strategies and instructional practices, and to help you become an “expert” in The Key Comprehension Routine so you will feel confident helping teachers with implementation. The trainer will review key details about each component of the routine, and you will practice applying the strategies to sample text from different subject areas.
Day 2 (Thursday, June 13, 2024) The goals for this day are to help you understand and define your role as a peer coach, provide coaching techniques and resources, and offer suggestions for promoting implementation of Key Comprehension instructional strategies. We recommend that pairs or teams of teachers from the same school participate at the same time.
