About the Science of Reading (RSA) Professional Development (PD) Requirement
Districts that receive $2500 or more in RSA funds must use at least 10% of their funds for PD on the science of reading. Districts must select one or more of the approved programs for this 10%. Funding may be used for most costs associated with a PD program, including registration for PD, payment of substitutes, stipends, travel, materials, and supplies. Certified Facilitator Training (CFT) expenses can also be funded. The PD is for any staff members who work with students in Prekindergarten through grade 5 in the areas of reading or writing.
