Elsa is a Trainer with Keys to Literacy and began her career in 2000 as an elementary educator. After a short time, she transitioned to working as an interventionist and as a literacy coach, where she supported students in small groups to close reading gaps and coached teachers around improving their reading and writing instructional practices. Through this work, she became an instructional specialist at the district level where she supported educators focusing on student academic achievement. In this role, she designed curriculum and delivered professional development that incorporated the latest research-based literacy content. Elsa received a B.S. with a Reading Endorsement and Bilingual/ESL Certification (EC-12) in 2000 from Texas A&M University-Kingsville, an M.Ed. as a Legacy Master Reading Teacher (EC-12), and Leadership in 2005 from Our Lady of the Lake University, and an Ed.D of Curriculum and Instruction in 2022 from National University.
