Jennifer Leffers, M.A.

Trainer

Jen’s career in education started over twenty years ago as an elementary teacher and she quickly realized that teaching literacy was her real passion. She taught grades 2-4 in the classroom before obtaining her Master’s Degree as a Reading Specialist. She has worked as an RTI coordinator and a Reading Specialist (K-5) doing individual instruction, coaching teachers on best practice and planning and conducting professional development. When her children were young, she started a Parent and Me literacy class to model for parents how to build the foundation for literacy success. For the past 13 years she has been an Adjunct Professor at Fairfield University where she taught courses in the Graduate School of Education and supervised student teachers. Through this work at the University and through delivering professional development at her school, she realized her true calling was working with teachers. She holds a B.S in Elementary Education from the University of South Dakota, an ESL Endorsement from the University of Utah, and a M.A. from the Applied Educational Psychology: Reading Specialist program from Teachers College, Columbia University which is a research based assessment and intervention methodology program. She has three boys, loves to read, and is a huge sports fan.
