Kirsten is a Trainer with Keys to Literacy and began her career in 1996 as an elementary educator. In 2022, she took a position as the K-5 Literacy Coach for the West Allegheny School District where she supports teachers in planning and implementing effective instructional practices and provides professional development focusing on Pennsylvania Literacy Competencies. She also consults with curriculum experts and develops district literacy curriculum that supports research-based best practices. She has recently been involved in developing summer literacy challenges for K-5 students to encourage reading engagement and maintain academic stamina during the summer months.  Kirsten received a B.S. in K-8 Education in 1994 from Pennsylvania State University, an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction in 2013 from Gannon University, a Reading Specialist certification from Gannon University in 2017, and certification as a Reading Horizons District Support Trainer in 2021.
