Lisa is a Trainer with Keys to Literacy and began her career in 1995 as a first-grade teacher. After several years, she began working as a Reading First Coach in her district and then transitioned to a Reading First Technical Assistant for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. She has held various positions in curriculum and administration and currently serves as a literacy consultant with an intermediate unit in the Pittsburgh area where she supports districts in all things literacy. She is passionate about helping educators learn how to best serve struggling readers. Lisa received her Doctorate in Reading from the University of Pittsburgh where she studied directly under the esteemed Dr.Isabel Beck. Her dissertation study was featured in Beck’s classic book Bringing Words to Life, Second Edition. She also holds her M.Ed. in Reading and B.S. in Early / Elementary Education from the California University of Pennsylvania. In her personal time, Lisa enjoys reading, music, traveling, and spending time with her family.
