Susan Mackey, M.Ed.

Trainer

Susan is a passionate educator with over 30 years of experience. From her roots as a K-1 teacher in central Arkansas, to helping K-8 students and teachers reach their full potential in northwest Arkansas, she strives to empower the next generation. Susan has worked as a literacy coach, curriculum specialist, and executive director of curriculum and instruction. Throughout her career, she has introduced K-12 educators to the Science of Reading and structured literacy to support classroom instruction. In addition, Susan is an Arkansas Reading Initiative for Student Excellence (R.I.S.E) trainer, LETRS Foundations trained, a National Writing Project Fellow, and a national consultant and writer contributing to published resources about quality lesson planning. Susan holds a BS in Elementary Education from the University of Arkansas and a M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in TESOL from John Brown University. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, reading, traveling, and spending time with family.
