Tricia Culpepper has been in education for over 30 years. She has served as a teacher, interventionist, reading specialist and for 16 years, was the principal of Cullman City Primary School in Cullman, Alabama. During her tenure at Cullman Primary, the school earned the International Reading Association’s Exemplary Reading award for the state of Alabama. In 2021, CCPS won the Dr. Louisa Moats Award for Excellence implementing the Science of Reading. In 2022, Tricia was a top 3 finalist in the elementary division for the National Distinguished Principal award for Alabama. During 2022-2023 school year, Tricia served as a regional literacy leadership specialist for the state of Alabama. This included providing professional development to school leaders and coaching principals. She has a passion for developing and supporting school leaders in their journey of implementing the science of reading in their schools.
Tricia holds a B.S. in Marketing from the University of Alabama, a Master’s in Elementary Education from Auburn University at Montgomery and an ED.S. in elementary education from the University of Alabama. She has certifications in reading and administration. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading and cooking.
