Advancing Literacy for All: Supporting Rhode Island Reads and CLSD

Keys to Literacy is proud to be an approved provider supporting  Rhode Island Reads and the Right to Read Act with evidence-based training for educators, leaders, and districts.

Need Approved Proficiency Training for the Literacy/Dyslexia Endorsement?

Our Rhode Island Keys to Reading and Dyslexia course is approved and meets the Right to Read Act requirements for all educators needing to meet the Proficiency Training Requirements.

About the Course

  • Upon completion of this course, RI certified educators will be able to add Literacy/Dyslexia endorsement to a current valid Rhode Island certificate. This endorsement indicates an educator has met the proficiency requirements of the Right to Read Act legislation that includes intensive study of the Science of Reading and Structured Literacy.
  • School districts provide this professional development to teachers using our Facilitated Online Course model.  A 38-hour asynchronous online course is combined with five, half-day virtual-live facilitated sessions. Training content is learned from the online course, and facilitated sessions offer an opportunity for educators to engage in collaborative activities and discussion to support that online learning.

Rhode Island CLSD Pillars & KTL Solutions

Rhode Island’s CLSD plan focuses on three powerful pillars for literacy transformation: coaching, system redesign, and educator preparation. Keys to Literacy offers aligned services to support all three.

Pillar 1: Coaching for Instructional Impact

“Every subgrantee will work with a state-endorsed coach to improve the quality of literacy instruction.”

KTL Solution: Certified Facilitator Model

Link these courses with the CF model :

  • Key Comprehension Routine (4–12)
  • Keys to Content Writing (3–12)

Pillar 2: Reimagining Systems for Alignment

“Every subgrantee will reimagine systems to deliver coherent and aligned instruction across Tiers I, II, and III.”

KTL Solution: Literacy Leadership Services
Support school and district leaders in designing MTSS-aligned systems for Tier 1 and beyond.

Link Literacy Leadership Services:

  • Strategic planning coaching

Pillar 3: EPP & IHE Partnerships

“Every subgrantee will develop a cooperative agreement with an Educator Preparation Provider.”

KTL Solution: Higher Ed Alignment & Curriculum Integration
Collaborate with Educator Preparation Programs to ensure coursework reflects the Science of Reading and aligns with state expectations.

Featured Work:

  • KTL curriculum embedded into educator prep programs
