Keys to Beginning Reading
The IDA-accredited Keys to Beginning Reading offers K-5 general educators and K-12 special educators/interventionists comprehensive training in essential structured literacy components through eleven modules. The evidence-based 40-hour course covers the science of reading fundamentals, addressing the strands of Scarborough’s Reading Rope, from foundational skills like phonemic awareness and phonics (word recognition strands) to components like vocabulary, comprehension strategies, and reading assessment (language comprehension strands). The instructional practices are designed to easily transfer to classroom lessons and can be integrated with any reading curriculum or published reading program.
Keys to Early Writing
Keys to Early Writing provides K-2 educators with comprehensive, evidence-based strategies for teaching foundational writing skills. The course addresses critical components including text structure, syntax, transcription skills (spelling, handwriting), writing craft, and the writing process. Through systematic instruction, educators learn to build a community of writers while developing students’ skills in sentence construction, organizing ideas, and writing from sources.
Keys to Content Writing
Keys to Content Writing equips grades 3-12 educators with evidence-based practices for integrating writing instruction across all subject areas. The program focuses on strengthening students’ critical thinking, text organization, syntax, and writing craft through practical strategies that align with state literacy standards. Participants learn to use writing to deepen content learning while providing appropriate scaffolds to support all learners across grade levels and disciplines.
