Keys to Early Writing Peer Coach Training

Advanced training for building or district level individuals to become a peer implementation coach/facilitator for Keys to Early Writing. The training includes a deep review of the program and coaching skills.

Prior attendance at a Keys to Early Writing initial training is a prerequisite for Peer Coach Training.

Virtual-Live Format: The trainer will use Zoom video conferencing to deliver this training in an interactive format, using features such as breakout rooms and chat.  Sessions are not recorded - attendance only in real time.

Training Description

This two-day workshop is for peer coach/facilitators who want to provide support to teachers who have been trained to implement instructional practices from Keys to Early Writing. This includes: using mentor text, engaging a community of writers, stages of the writing process, drawing/labels/lists, sentence writing, paragraph writing, the three types of writing, writing from sources.

Day 1 (Wednesday, April 9, 2025) The goals for this day are to clarify any questions you have about the instructional practices, and to help you become an “expert” in Keys to Early Writing so you will feel confident helping teachers with implementation.  The trainer will review key details about each component of the program.

Day 2 (Thursday, April 10, 2205) The goals for this day are to help you understand and define your role as a peer coach, provide coaching techniques and resources, and offer suggestions for promoting implementation of Keys to Early Writing instructional strategies. We recommend that pairs or teams of teachers from the same school participate at the same time.

• If you cancel 3 days or more prior to training, you will be issued a 50% refund.
• No refunds will be issued for "no shows" or cancellations within 72 hours of training.
• Substitutions accepted.
