Renee Cowan, Ed.D.

Renee has worked in several districts in New York and Oklahoma as a Classroom Teacher grades K-2, a Reading Specialist, Literacy Coach and Assistant Principal. She served the Oklahoma State Department of Education as a REAC3H Instructional Coach which allowed her to provide professional development and teacher training to over a dozen school districts located in Northeastern Oklahoma. She most recently served as a School Principal for Sand Springs Public Schools, OK. Renee earned a BS in Elementary Education from SUNY Plattsburgh, a MS in Literacy from Mount Saint Mary College, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Oral Roberts University. Renee has delivered many workshops on literacy best-practices, mentored new teachers, and taught pre-service teachers at the college level. She enjoys working with teachers to increase confidence in the area of literacy instruction, with an emphasis on the reading brain, phonological awareness, and explicit phonics instruction.
