“Voice of Literacy” Podcasts

I’d like to share a resource I recently found that archives podcasts related to literacy. On the Voice of Literacy site, Dr. Betsy Baker (Associate Professor of Literacy studies at the University of Missouri) posts bi-weekly podcasts of interviews of researchers as they discuss the implications of their literacy research. Most podcasts range from 10 to 12 minutes long, and are archived back to 2008. I can’t believe I am just finding out about this resource!
All of the podcasts are related to literacy, but the topics vary. Here is a list of the podcasts from 2011 through 2014 that I recommend:
- Literacy Coaching: Contextual constraints and opportunities with Dr. Leslie Rush (posted 2/10/14)
- Internet literacy and middle school science: What are the obstacles? With Dr. Jamie Colwell (posted 11/4/13)
- Pay Attention! An examination of comprehension with Dr. Michael Kieffer (posted 10/23/13)
- Literacy coaching: Challenges and opportunities with Dr. Carolyn Hunt (posted 4/24/13)
- Text complexity and the early grades with Dr. Heidi Anne Mesmer (posted 10/14/12)
